Summary / Overview
After a breach incident, The City of Centerville began examining ways to simplify its cybersecurity measures and develop proactive approaches for monitoring and proactively blocking malicious activities. Centerville, OH is 11 square miles, located across two counties and has a population of approx. 25,000.
Solution:
- The SecureCyber team performed an initial review to fully understand the current situation
- Team installed FortiGate firewalls allowing network control from a single pane of glass perspective and began providing initial Managed Detection and Response Services.
- New FortiSwitches were then installed, followed by FortiGates that allowed for centralized management, and then the team migrated existing devices.
- The logical network topology was reconfigured so the data could travel in a way that allowed all the security systems to interact with each other seamlessly.
- The team also removed mismatched VLANs, solved a VOIP compatibility concern, and fixed a Nutanix Switch stack.
Result:
- Unified security stack allowing the City to have a complete view of all its networks and devices.
- A re-architected, secure-by-design network to complement the security services.
- Improved mean time-to-response.
- Reduced effort in manually coordinating threat logs.
